Quality of Air & Air pollution

The European Environment Agency released at February 18, 2015, a briefing regarding Health and environment: The European environment - state and outlook 2015. The topic is critical nowadays with many people (especially young people) suffering from respiratory diseases and SOUL may give some help for authorities and citiziens.

As stated in the report:

"Air pollution remains a major environmental health risk in Europe, contributing to the burden of respiratory and cardiovascular diseases, lung cancer, and other health effects.[14][15]16] Despite improvements with respect to some pollutants, exposures to particulate matter, ozone and carcinogenic benzo(a)pyrene are of high concern. This is particularly evident using the estimates based on WHO air quality guidelines,[15] which are more stringent than EU air quality standards[17]"
